5-Day Devotional Based on "Made For Mission Week 6"
Day 1: When God Calls, Will You Go?
📖 Read: Jonah 1:1-3 (CSB)
God called Jonah to preach to Nineveh, a violent and wicked city. Instead of obeying, Jonah ran in the opposite direction toward Tarshish, choosing comfort and distance over God’s mission. Like Jonah, we often trade God’s call for a life of convenience, forgetting that God’s presence and power go with us wherever He sends us.
Reflect:
- Where in your life is God prompting you to step out in faith, but you have been saying, “Here I am, I’m not going”?
- What is your “Tarshish”—a place of comfort or avoidance—where you run instead of obeying God’s call?
- How might God want to use you in the place He is calling you, even if it feels uncomfortable?
Prayer:
“Father, I confess the ways I have chosen comfort over obedience. Help me trust that Your plans are better than my plans, and Your presence is greater than any comfort I could find apart from You.”
“Father, I confess the ways I have chosen comfort over obedience. Help me trust that Your plans are better than my plans, and Your presence is greater than any comfort I could find apart from You.”
✍️ Action: Write down the area of your life where God is calling you to step out in faith but you have resisted. Pray specifically over this area, asking for courage to take your next step in obedience this week.
Day 2: “Here I Am… Send Someone Else?”
📖 Read: Exodus 3:10-11 (CSB)
God called Moses to confront Pharaoh and lead Israel out of slavery, but Moses responded with insecurity, “Who am I that I should go?” Instead of trusting God’s power, Moses focused on his inadequacy, wishing someone else would take his place.
We often feel unqualified when God calls us, thinking, “I’m not talented enough. I’m not spiritual enough. I’m too broken.” But God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies those He calls, equipping them by His Spirit for the mission.
Reflect:
- What excuses do you find yourself giving when God prompts you to serve, speak, or give?
- How might God want to display His power through your weaknesses and limitations?
- Are you willing to trust that if God calls you, He will go with you?
Prayer:
“Lord, I often feel inadequate for what You call me to do. Thank You that You promise to be with me. Help me to trust that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness.”
“Lord, I often feel inadequate for what You call me to do. Thank You that You promise to be with me. Help me to trust that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness.”
✍️ Action: Identify one fear or excuse that holds you back from saying “yes” to God. Surrender it in prayer and ask God for opportunities to serve Him despite your insecurities.
Day 3: The Prayer That Changes Everything
📖 Read: Isaiah 6:8 (CSB)
Isaiah heard God ask, “Who will go for us?” and he immediately responded, “Here I am. Send me.” He didn’t ask for details or negotiate comfort; he simply made himself available to God’s mission.
Living on mission starts with surrendering your plans and availability to God daily. It’s saying, “God, I’m willing to speak, serve, give, go, and love as You lead me today.”
Reflect:
- Are you willing to pray, “Here I am, send me,” without conditions or reservations?
- What would change in your daily life if you woke up each morning with this prayer of availability?
- Who in your life might God be asking you to reach out to, encourage, or invite to church?
Prayer:
“Father, here I am. Send me. I give You my plans, my day, and my heart. Lead me to the people You want me to love and serve, and give me courage to obey.”
“Father, here I am. Send me. I give You my plans, my day, and my heart. Lead me to the people You want me to love and serve, and give me courage to obey.”
✍️ Action: Each morning this week, pray, “Here I am, send me,” and write down the ways you sense God prompting you to act throughout your day.
Day 4: Experiencing God’s Presence Changes Us
📖 Read: Isaiah 6:1 (NIV)
Isaiah’s willingness to go came after he encountered the presence of God, seeing Him high and exalted in His glory. God’s presence transforms us, humbles us, and refuels us for His mission. We cannot live on mission without living in His presence.
Worship, prayer, and time in God’s Word align our hearts with His heart. It is in His presence that we gain the courage and clarity to say yes to His calling.
Reflect:
- When was the last time you intentionally spent time in God’s presence without distractions?
- How can you create space to experience God’s presence daily, even in a busy life?
- How does God’s glory and holiness move you toward mission?
Prayer:
“Lord, I long to experience Your presence in a fresh way. Fill me with Your Spirit and renew my heart so I can serve You joyfully and boldly.”
“Lord, I long to experience Your presence in a fresh way. Fill me with Your Spirit and renew my heart so I can serve You joyfully and boldly.”
✍️ Action: Set aside 20-30 minutes for focused worship and prayer. Play worship music, read a psalm, and simply be still, inviting God to speak to you.
Day 5: Grace That Compels Us to Go
📖 Read: Isaiah 6:6-7 (NIV)
Isaiah was aware of his sinfulness, but God extended grace to him, cleansing and forgiving him. Experiencing God’s grace is what propels us to share the hope of Jesus with others. We don’t live on mission out of guilt but out of gratitude for what God has done for us
The same God who touched Isaiah’s lips has washed us clean through Jesus’ sacrifice. His grace changes us and fuels us to tell others about the forgiveness and freedom found in Christ.
Reflect:
- Do you live daily in the awareness of God’s grace toward you?
- How does gratitude for God’s forgiveness inspire you to share Jesus with others?
- Who is one person in your life who needs to know about the grace you have experienced?
Prayer:
“Thank You, Jesus, for Your grace that forgives and restores me. Help me live in the joy of Your grace and share it with those around me.”
“Thank You, Jesus, for Your grace that forgives and restores me. Help me live in the joy of Your grace and share it with those around me.”
✍️ Action: Write down the name of one person you will pray for and seek to reach with the hope of Jesus this week. Ask God for the opportunity to share your story with them.
